Hola!
I’m in a pretty good mood. I’m currently sat at the breakfast bar in the kitchen having a cup of tea whilst Fi is still in bed. It’s pretty noisy at the moment as there are a couple of carpenters here fitting our new oak floor! Fi and I are off work (Fi is on annual leave and I’m on rostered time off). The floor was supposed to begin installation on Tuesday but the flooring company phoned at 08:30 to say that they wouldn’t be able to start until Wednesday. That put me in a foul mood for the morning but a single chap rocked up yesterday and started cracking on. He manage to pull up and lay 2/3 of the lounge’s flooring in a day – not too shabby. They are hoping to have laid most if not all of the wood by the end of today and to do the finishing touches (i.e. the 37m of skirting board) on Friday. Here’s a few shots of the area to be floored before:

And here’s a picture of the lounge (taken from the same position as above) at the end of yesterday:

It’s hard to capture just how beautiful the floor looks compared to the old but so far, I’m very pleased.
Tuesday had other annoyance aside from the cancellation of the flooring. I decided it would be a good idea to change the master code on our house alarm (since all the builders – who have now left – knew it). The alarm we have is pretty old (about 20 years) and although it is fully functional and we have had new PIR sensors fitted it has a shocking user interface. To cut a long story short – I tried to change the code to something starting with a ’0′. It turns out that you can’t do that (why?) and I manage to roger the system. The alarm triggered and the code had been changed to something unknown. This meant that we had to fork out £65 for an engineer to come out and reprogram the entire system. What a farce! Some good news from the morning though – a chap came out to measure the old garage window for a blackout roller blind which should be ready within three weeks and is going to cost £130 (much more reasonable than John Lewis) fitted.
During the day yesterday Fi and I drove to Wiltshire to visit the stone circle at Avebury. I didn’t think the neolithic monument that that impressive but I did think the village was really pretty. Here’s a picture from there:

After Avebury we drove to Marlborough for a spot of lunch before returning back to Bristol. The evening was great in that I set up our 32″ LCD TV in the ‘Red Room’ (my new name for the ‘cinema’) as well as the Blu-ray player and we watched the latest episode of Heroes and an old cult classic – Hackers. Tonight we’re going to watch Twilight which I’m looking forwards to. The acoustics in the room are actually really good so I’m excited about fitting the cinema gear in there (whenever I can afford it!).
