This weekend was pretty busy but really fun. Sophie and Alexander came round for dinner on Friday night and stayed until after 01:00 and it was really nice. Fi made her delicious individual toad-in-the-holes which always go down a treat and we consumed a healthy amount of red wine. Sophie and Alexander have recently bought a new flat together and so I managed to score us an invite to theirs yesterday evening.
Fi and Max arrived from London Saturday lunchtime to a drizzly Bristol. It was a bit of a shame as we had hoped to show them around the city but in the end we just ended up staying indoors for the afternoon and playing on the Wii! They bought us a really nice decanter as a house-warming present which was very thoughtful and weird because we had be talking the night before how we quite wanted to buy one. We went out for dinner at the Clifton Lido which is always pleasant.
The weather yesterday was equally miserable but we did manage to have a stroll to Clifton before it started to tip it down with rain. Fi and Max headed back home around 17:00 which gave us just enough time to tidy up before we drove to Sophie and Alexander’s new place – it’s rather nice. Not surprising really considering that it’s a flat and I’m (pretty) sure that they paid more for it than we paid for our detached house! It quite an old building and has absolutely enormously high ceilings that make the place feel a lot bigger than it is. I tried to help Alexander out with his wireless internet connection but without much success (I blame the fact that his computer is five years old and running Windows!). By the time Fi and I got to bed we were exhausted – it’s hard work entertaining!
